Buying a Companion Dog
What is a Companion dog?
'Companion dog' usually describes a dog that does not work, providing only companionship as a pet, rather than usefulness by doing specific tasks. Many of the toy dog breeds are used only for the pleasure of their company, not as workers.
I go further into the discription of MY companion dogs in that my dogs do not Bark, dig, Jump fences, or run the neighborhood. They do not wish to leave your side. They are what i call 'velcro' dogs.
Now, my dogs will bark once in a while, and if they do, i suggest you get up and see what they are barking about. Some of my pups have not barked up until they were 6 months old. This is genetic and i have bred my dogs not to bark.
Females dogs will dig somewhat. Hot over-heated dogs will dig to get to the cooler earth, but on the average, my dogs do not care to dig.
Some F-1 or first generation pups will not fit the total bill of the American Alsatian. F-2 or second generations will have better scores and so then F-3's are nearly perfect. etc.
We outcross and bring in new blood or new genes and this keeps our dogs healthy with hybrid vigor. You American Alsatian should live up to 13 years without ever going to the Veternarian.
